A new era for Paul Fodde Racing begins this weekend at the historic Quincy Grand Prix. The Quincy Grand Prix returns in 2024 after a hiatus following the 2022 running. This is a historic event located at "the park" in Quincy, IL. This will be an amazing event, and I have to thank local business owner (and great kart racer) Jeff Scott of Scottie's Fun Spot for reviving this historic event. I wish that it was possible for me to race in the previous years, however I can't be held up on the past. This weekend will be exciting as I will be racing in it! I have raced at Daytona, Indianapolis, and the historic Rock Island Grand Prix. This is one of the last "bucket list" events that I have to compete in. It's also not like I am jumping in after not being in the seat for so long. Despite a one-off in 2019 with Brandin Moore, I did not race again until 2022 when I jumped in the Ignite Heavy class and finished 9th in the Gateway Kartplex Ignite Series season finale. I raced twice again in 2023, this time in the Senior class. My kart was fast, and while I didn't get the results I wanted, I was happy to be competitive and show the speed despite not racing in almost 6 years. In 2024, I have decided to jump out of my comfort zone and compete in as many races as possible. Despite my full-time duties as announcer for the Gateway Kartplex and the Margay Racing Ignite Challenge, I have been able to find some time to race this year. On May 5th in the SuperComp Series, I raced in the brand new 2-cycle Ignite 100 Senior class driving for none other than Brandin Moore. I finished 6th in class, but I learned a lot and was able to make gains as the day went on. I am grateful for that opportunity and I hope theres more in the future for 2-cycle. Back to what this blog post is all about, a new era for Paul Fodde Racing is beginning at the Quincy Grand Prix. I am hoping this kickstarts the racing program back to where I wanted it to go. While I didn't like that it took almost 6 years for me to get back in the seat, I appreciate what I've learned personally and professionally in my time away. Sometimes you need a break from something to come back even stronger. I know for a fact that I will be competitive at the Quincy Grand Prix, and whatever future races I have after that. I can't do this alone, and I have to thank Margay Racing for the opportunity to compete. I also have to thank my sponsors- Ascentix Innovation Labs, Gateway Kartplex, Sebetka Bail Bonds, What's on Tap podcast, and Illumination Poodles. Thanks to all of them for jumping on board. I can't wait to race, and I'll see you on the track!
